Events

Connect with disability community across the Forty Acres through accessible events for students, faculty, staff and alumni. Disabled and non-disabled Longhorns alike are welcome!

What to Expect at DCC Events

We want you to feel comfortable and ready to connect. Some events are designed for people who share a specific disability experience or role at UT. A formal diagnosis, documentation or disability disclosure is never required.

Access at Our Events

We build accessibility into our events by using accessible spaces, captions, visual descriptions, hybrid options when possible and multiple ways to participate. Physical locations will always be wheelchair accessible and have available and accessible seating. Doors will either be propped open or have automatic buttons. Masks, hand sanitizer and fidgets are also available at in-person events.

Need an accommodation?

Let us know what you need to participate. For services such as ASL interpreting, reach out as early as possible so we can make arrangements.

Community Agreements

We ask everyone to help create a respectful space for connection and learning:

  • Respect all disability experiences.
  • Share from your own experience rather than giving advice.
  • Respect the privacy of what others share.
  • Participate in the ways that work for you. This can include any combination of speaking, listening and using written chat and reactions.
  • Make room for silence and reflection.
  • Because we want to create a sense of community, we do not allow observers at our events. People who want to learn and engage are welcome, and no prior knowledge or experience is needed.

Let us know what would help you participate.
