About
In Fall 2025, the DCC hosted artist Rachel Salcido’s collection Cuerpos Fronterizos.
About the Artist
Rachel Salcido (@rachelsalcidoo) is a Mexican American artist from El Paso, Texas, whose work explores identity and culture through vivid, expressive form and texture. Their first solo exhibition, Cuerpos Fronterizos, brought together works that traced disabled bodies navigating both physical and metaphorical borderlands. The collection explored the intersections of disability, nature and Mexican American identity through fence-like motifs and near-deified fruit to consider liminality and passage. Rachel foregrounded interdependence and care as radical, transformative forces within the experience of disability — offering a sense of unity and transcendence across thresholds.
