The Disability Cultural Center works with campus partners to welcome incoming and returning students to campus in the fall. Events that take place during the first few weeks of the fall semester are designed to connect students to resources and to build community.
Disability and Access Virtual Accommodation Orientation:
Week of August 12th – August 15th via Zoom
Disability and Access (D&A) is excited to welcome students to their first semester at UT! To help navigate the new responsibilities and rights students have in using their accommodations at UT, D&A will be hosting its annual Accommodation Orientation. These sessions will be dedicated to specific topics such as an overview of applying for accommodations, self-advocacy skills, flexible attendance, and more. Students can choose to attend any or all sessions that may be relevant to their accommodations and interests. For specific dates, times, and RSVP, visit the Disability and Access website.
Paralympic Games Watch Party

Stop by this come-and-go watch party for the opening ceremony of the Paralympics. Light snacks will be provided. Hosted by the Disability Cultural Center. No RSVP needed.

Assistive Technology/Accessible Technology Meet Up

This informal virtual meet up will bring together member of the UT community around assistive technology and making technology accessible. All are welcome to come learn about the tools and resources available at UT to share experiences, and to meet the staff doing this work on campus. RSVP Here.
DCC/DASC Welcome Week Kickoff Social

Join the Disability Cultural Center (DCC) and Disability Student Advocacy Coalition (DASC) for a Welcome Week Kickoff Social to learn more about DASC’s new programming, chat with peers, and design your own high-quality, printed vinyl stickers! Create unique sticker designs using your medium of choice (pencil/digital drawing, written description, etc.), and we will recreate them in Adobe Illustrator to be printed at UT’s Foundry. Once your stickers are printed, we will give you the final product to keep! This social event is a great way to meet other students, learn about DASC’s plans for the fall and connect with the larger disability community at UT. DASC will continue holding social events every other week throughout the semester, with their first regular social starting September 10th. UT Disability Community Building and Resource Fair:

The Disability Cultural Center’s Resource Fair provides an opportunity for the UT community to learn about disability-related resources, services, and organizations at UT and to connect with other members of the UT community. Join us on Wednesday September 4th from 2:30-4pm in G1.106 for activities and community building and then stop by the Resource Fair from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the Student Services Building in the Glenn Maloney Room (G1.310). Deaf/Hard of Hearing UT Community Meet & Greet
