Meet the DCC Team

Emily is proud to be the founding director of UT Austin’s Disability Cultural Center, bringing personal, educational and professional experience with disability to the role. Emily has been connected to UT Austin in a variety of capacities since 2010. She worked in Disability and Access for 12 years, graduated from the Steve Hicks School of Social Work with a master’s in Community and Administrative Leadership and teaches in the Critical Disability Studies program. Emily is committed to applying the principles of Disability Justice within her work and enjoys creating connections between the UT community and the larger Austin disability community. Emily has served on several local and national nonprofit boards and enjoys applying her professional skills in a volunteer capacity. Emily is a wheelchair athlete and has competed in several sports, including wheelchair rugby, wheelchair tennis and paratriathlon.
